Lost Your GTE Certificate, or Think There's a Marking Error?
Most of what gets written about the Government Technical Examinations covers preparing for them. Less gets said about what happens afterward — if you've already passed and something goes wrong with your certificate, or you have doubts about your result. Here's what's actually available.
Re-totaling of marks
If you have reason to believe your paper wasn't marked or totaled correctly, re-totaling of marks is allowed for Commerce examination candidates, as per the Directorate's norms, after remitting the prescribed fee.
Duplicate certificates
If your original certificate is lost or damaged, a duplicate can be issued — again, as per the norms, after paying the prescribed fee. This is a standard, allowed process, not an exception you have to argue for.
Genuineness certificates
Sometimes an employer or another institution needs to verify that a certificate is authentic. A Genuineness Certificate can be issued for this purpose, also for a prescribed fee.
How results and certificates reach candidates in the first place
Results for Typewriting, Shorthand, Accountancy, and COA are published on the Directorate's own schedule. After publication, certificates for candidates who trained through a commercial institute are sent directly to that institute; certificates for private candidates are sent directly to the individual.
We haven't listed exact fee amounts here since the Directorate periodically revises them — the accurate figures are available directly from the Directorate of Technical Education or their examination portal.
